Recently I was commissioned to design a flyer for the upcoming play “Playing for Keeps”. Auditions for the two-act comedy drama focusing on relationship issues from a Christian perspective will be held Tuesday and Wednesday August 4th and 5th, from 6:30-8:30pm at Broad Ripple High School’s Auditorium. Ten roles are available: six male and four female actors age 21 and up are needed. The play is set to premiere in October 2009. For more information call 317-695-1364 or 219-688-8148. Circle City Classic hosts a Birthday Party for it’s new Top Executive

The Circle City Classic has hired Marc Williams, as its new executive director. Williams, 39, is a New Jersey native that boasts an extensive background in marketing and sports. His overall efforts earned him a selection and cover story to The Network Journal’s Top 40 Businessmen in the US, under the age of 40; Successguide World wide- Top 30 Leaders of the Future; Vanguarde Media’s Top 50 Marketers in the US, and a nomination to Sports Illustrated Top 101 Minorities in Sports.

This weekend Marc Williams turns 40 and I was commissioned to design the flyer for his birthday party. The party will be held on Friday August 7th from 6:00-10:00 at 300 East in Indianapolis, IN. To RSVP email dandridli@aol.com.

The Circle City Classic is a joint collaboration between Indiana Black Expo. Inc. and the Indiana Sports Corporation. The classic’s mission is to support educational achievement, promote cultural excellence, while showcasing the spirit, energy and tradition of America’s historically black colleges and universities.

Graphics experts eye INSight

Faith Church in Dyer, Indiana was host to the INSight Design Conference. The conference served as a forum to boost business between designers and companies. Designers attended inspirational breakout sessions, portfolio reviews, demonstrations and more. Businesses were educated on brand building, how to benefit from great design and communications, and learned about new media solutions. Finally both designers and the companies were able to network, participate in panel discussions and stroll down vendors’ row which hosted the best products and services that Northwest Indiana and Chicago had to offer. Delta Renaissance Weekend

Delta Renaissance Weekend is coming August 28th and 29th and will take place at the Renaissance North Hotel in Carmel, Indiana. The event is hosted by the Indianapolis Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and it’s purpose is to kick off the 2009-2010 Sorority Year. On Friday night the Deltas host “The Uptown Rouge, a swanky party that is open to the public and Saturday the Chapter will hold it’s annual Round Up for Sorority members only.

As the Indianapolis Alumnae Chapter’s Publicity Chair, I was responsible for all design needs such as fliers, brochures and tickets as well as promotions. I invite you to join us at “The Uptown Rouge” and to all of my Sorors of Delta Sigma Theta, I will see you at Saturday’s Round Up as well.

“Second Chance”

Last weekend I worked as a videographer during the premier of “Second Chance”, a play produced by the Imani Community Church Performing Arts Ministry. The was plot was EXCELLENT. I was captivated by the twists and turns following the path of a drug addicted mother, a crooked cop, an alcoholic, and a strained marriage and the story of their triumph and salvation. Summer Celebration kicks off Today

The Indiana Black Expo Summer Celebration kicked off this evening at Light of the World Christian Church. Citizens, Community Leaders, and Government Officials, all came together to give the Summer Celebration their blessing and give thanks for thirty-nine successful years.

Volunteer to Usher at IBE’s Celebration of Praise

We are in need of additional volunteers to serve as ushers for the Celebration of Praise Service which will be held on Sunday, July 19 as part of IBE Summer Celebration. Ushers need to arrive at the Indiana Convention Center, Hall A at 7:30am and will receive instructions upon arrival. Ushers will need to wear white tops and black bottoms. WE NEED YOU! Join us in Indianapolis July 9th through July 19th for the 2009 Indiana Black Expo Summer Celebration.

The Indiana Black Expo’s Summer Celebration began as a humble exposition at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in 1971. It highlighted cultural art, history and economic accomplishments of African-Americans while demonstrating the importance of their contributions to Indiana. Back then the even attracted over 50,000 people.

Summer Celebration is now the largest African-American event in the nation, with over 300,000 people in attendance. The myriad of programs and events stretches over an 11-day period and includes business workshops, health and wellness, employment opportunities, spiritual enrichment, exhibits, youth activities and entertainment. Local and national celebrities along with individuals, families and members of the corporate community all join in celebration of African-American heritage and culture. Summer Celebration is the signature fund raiser for the nonprofit community organization Indiana Black Expo, Inc. and its’ year-round youth and family programs.
